Welcome to Brookside Dental!

Your first visit, also called a new patient exam, is an opportunity for you to get to know Dr. Hamblin and the rest of the team at Brookside Dental. During this first visit, you’ll discuss your oral health history and your present concerns with our compassionate team of dental professionals.

This appointment also includes an oral examination and several tests so that Dr. Hamblin can get an idea of your current state of health and the level of care your teeth will require. The entire visit takes between sixty and ninety minutes, so you’ll need to plan accordingly.

What Happens During a New Patient Exam?

There are several steps in a new patient exam. It would help if you planned to arrive 10-15 minutes early so you’ll have time to fill out some forms.

After your initial greetings with the team, the appointment includes:

  • An oral examination
  • Blood pressure check
  • Standard cleaning and polishing
  • A demonstration of the right way to brush and floss your teeth at home, if necessary
  • Planning for treatment of any present issues
  • Financial coordination meeting

The Brookside Dental office has a ceiling TV, so you’ll feel right at home in the examination chair. You’ll leave the office feeling refreshed and confident about your care.

How Should I Prepare for My New Patient Exam?

You should take a few steps to prepare for your new patient exam before you arrive at your appointment. To prepare, Dr. Hamblin and his team recommend that you:

  • Write down a list of questions to ask.
  • Write down concerns about your oral health.
  • Prepare a list of medications that you take.
  • Bring insurance information, if applicable.
  • Print and bring your medical history forms if you’d rather fill them out at home.

If you have any further questions about what to bring to your appointment and how to prepare, feel free to call Brookside Dental to speak directly with a member of the team.
